George Takei calling out Disney's portrayal of female characters

Whoah, George Takei got over 16,000 likes on Facebook for a little critical, some might say hypercritical, analysis of Disney's portray of female characters. I can't say I disagree, but there's something odd about the post. I'm afraid to even look at the comments.

I dunno. These movies are rife with progressive messages as well:

Snow White - True beauty comes from having a kind heart and treating smaller things with dignity
Jasmine - It's important to rebel against the social mores of your culture if they are not right for you
Arielle - Sometimes you have to leave the comforts of home to fully experience other cultures
Belle - Reading is Fundamental
Sleeping Beauty - Healthcare is a basic human right.
Cinderella - Be punctual

I don't disagree, but seeing the pictures of all of those female characters really creeped me out - particularly body image, western conceptions of beauty, and Anglo features. There's a point to be made of how much Disney the average kid consumes versus other media.
