The stellar team at Celebrate Brooklyn doesn't have an iCal feed of their events, only an RSS feed. So, I decided to help them out and create an iCal version for them. I created it in Google Calendar and then published the calendar, and you are the beneficiary. Here are the calendar links.

New York city continues to show off its greatness. Last night at Celebrate Brooklyn at Pier 1, DJ Rekha and Red Baraat wowed the mob with amazing bhangra music outdoors as the sun set. Enjoy some average photos and videos shot on my phone. The crowd absolutely went wild to the stunning music (even though the sound aint great on my phone). And yes, that is a guy with a sousaphone (not a tuba) rapping on stage.
This is a most-incredible real-time map of a bus line in Brooklyn. Soon enough they'll expand programs like this to every bus and train in New York and other cities. Why wait in the cold for a bus when you can just head out when it is arriving. Elegant, simple, powerful, how technology should be.

I was having dinner and I noticed the lightning. I raced outside and managed to grab one photo before the rain hit. The lightning continued as I had dinner and then I heard a terrible noise. I looked outside and it was hailing like crazy, so I hid away from the windows. I finally peeked out and saw the streets flooding like crazy! All of the white stuff in the street is hail that fell over a matter of a few minutes. What is going on?!
The lightning is still quite bad, and seems to be getting closer. I can only imagine what that flooding is doing to the neighborhood. And this is all after the tornado we had a few weeks ago.

September 16, 2010. I stopped at Kalustyan's in Manhattan to do some Indian food shopping and am so thankful that I did. When I emerged back in Brooklyn I found my neighborhood torn up by an apparent tornado. Here is some of what I captured on my cell phone.
a cool new clothing company out of Brooklyn named Chor Bazaar (translation: thieves' market) with India-inspired t-shirts like this one. This car means India to me. Iconic.
I love that the gardens are free before noon on Saturdays. Totally worth going. I go as often as I can and was delighted to find the roses blooming this week. Not to mention a bunny rabbit.
Looked outside and just above the Statue of Liberty there were fireworks going off. Grabbed my camera, tried to remember how to shoot fireworks, and just went at it. Got a few good ones in there.
