a cool new clothing company out of Brooklyn named Chor Bazaar (translation: thieves' market) with India-inspired t-shirts like this one. This car means India to me. Iconic.

An awesome first day. Learn more about the project here. Add it to the ever-expanding list of reasons I love living in New York City.
Looked outside and just above the Statue of Liberty there were fireworks going off. Grabbed my camera, tried to remember how to shoot fireworks, and just went at it. Got a few good ones in there.
I haven't met this bartender but the piece certainly makes it seem like every bartender should strive to be like him.
I actually really like the NY subway map, but I'm excited to see them updating it for clarity. It's been a long time coming. More on this with pictures from the NY Times.
I am so happy to hear that the Grand Army Plaza walking/biking area are going to be redone to be safer and more efficient. Living in the neighborhood I've had more than a few heart-stopping experiences just walking when the pedestrian light says to. The drivers, bikers, and walkers all need functionality that directs them safely. That being said, how we instill common sense in people in much more complicated.
I mean, seriously, this is awesome. It's actually scary how many times I've seen people cutting nails on the subway. Almost as creepy as people having full meals on the subway.
Spotted this on Dan Pink's blog but he found it originally on the Critical Difference blog.
Evernote, a wonderful note-taking anywhere application that I use is hosting an event tonight in New York City. There's a great looking panel and free food and drink! You need to RSVP, so go for it!
The Student Press Initiative is a wonderful-looking program which trains teachers on best practices for getting students to publish their work publicly. This looks like a perfect opportunity for any teachers that work with students on writing. How does publishing to the public change the way we write? Can it make it more real for students? Can they connect to a wider audience than their teacher? I would say yes to all of these points.
Please share this program with your teachers. It will take place on July 12-15 in New York City, at Teachers College, Columbia University (my alma mater!).
Every day New York tells me why I live in the greatest city in the world. (via @specialkrb)
